Free flu immunizations to begin Mondays at Vaden Health Center

Starting on Oct. 13, Vaden Health Center will hold flu immunization clinics every Monday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. during the fall quarter. The last one will be held on Dec. 8, and no clinic is scheduled for Nov. 24. The vaccine will not be given to individuals with a severe cold or other infection or who are allergic to eggs; and pregnant women in their first trimester will require medical clearance from an obstetrician.

The shot is free for university employees, and a valid Stanford ID must be presented at the time of vaccination. Those eligible include faculty, staff, emeritus faculty, retired staff, Medical School and research faculty and staff. Stanford Hospital and Clinics employees are not eligible for a free vaccination.

The shot is $24 for spouses and domestic partners of university employees, as well as for most students and their spouses or domestic partners. Students enrolled in Cardinal Care pay $12. Medical students must present their medical student ID card for a free shot.

The vaccine also will be available exclusively for staff and retirees at the following Benefits Fairs in Tresidder Union: Monday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (retirees only); Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
