Wolfgang K. H.

Wolfgang K. H. "Pief" Panofsky

On Thursday, April 10, the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center will host an all-day symposium to celebrate the professional career of SLAC's founding director, Wolfgang K. H. "Pief" Panofsky.

A renowned particle physicist, Panofsky was also an indefatigable arms control advocate and an adviser to U.S. presidents and world leaders.

The symposium will gather colleagues for a day of talks covering the many facets of Panofsky's professional life. The program will focus on his pioneering work in particle physics, public policy and international collaboration, and will close with a wine-and-cheese gathering.

The event will be held in the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center, with symposium sessions simultaneously broadcast to SLAC's Panofsky Auditorium. All are invited to attend but registration is required and registrants must indicate their venue in order for the organizers to ensure availability of seating.
