Senate to hold first meeting of spring quarter on Thursday
The Faculty Senate will convene Thursday for its first meeting of the spring quarter.
Prior to the meeting, the Steering Committee will meet in administrative session. After the meeting, the senate will hold its spring executive session.
The Steering Committee is scheduled to hear recommendations to renew the Interdisciplinary Program in Biophysics; to approve two joint degree programs—an MS in electrical engineering and JD in law, and an MS in computer science and JD in law; and to approve several joint degree programs associated with the Interdisciplinary Program in Public Policy.
In addition, the committee will hear a report on the Interdisciplinary Program in Mathematical and Computational Science from the Committee for the Review of Undergraduate Majors. It also will hear a recommendation for the extension/renewal of the Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities Graduate and Undergraduate Degree Programs.
The committee will meet from 2:20 to 3 p.m. in Room 180 of the Law School. All members of the senate are welcome to attend.
During it regular meeting, which starts at 3:15 p.m., the senate is scheduled to hear a report recommending an administrative approval process for certain joint degree programs from the Committee on Graduate Studies.
The senate also is scheduled to hear reports from two representatives of the Associate Students of Stanford University: Adam Beberg of the Graduate Student Council and Eugene Nho, deputy chair of the Undergraduate Senate.

The spring executive session, which begins at 4:30 p.m., will take place in the Law School Faculty Lounge.
