Kenneth Arrow receives the National Medal of Science
Kenneth J. Arrow, the Joan Kenney Professor of Economics and Professor of Operations Research, Emeritus, received the 2004 National Medal of Science, which was presented Feb. 13 at the White House by President George Bush. One of eight recipients of the nation's highest scientific honor, Arrow was honored for his work, which has changed thinking in stock markets as well as health-care and insurance. A Nobel laureate in economics, Arrow, 84, also is a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies' Center for Health Policy/Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research.
