HANS C. ANDERSEN, the David Mulvane Ehrsam and Edward Curtis Franklin Professor in Chemistry, is recipient of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Award in Theoretical Chemistry. Established in 1991 by IBM Corp., the award recognizes innovative research that contributes new insights about chemical systems or advances theoretical methodology.

EDWARD I. SOLOMON, the Monroe E. Spaght Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences, has won the ACS Award for Distinguished Service in the Advancement of Inorganic Chemistry. The award is sponsored by Strem Chemicals Inc. Established in 1963, the award recognizes individuals who have advanced inorganic chemistry in areas such as teaching, writing, research and administration.

JUSTIN DU BOIS, associate professor of chemistry, is recipient of the ACS Elias J. Corey Award for Outstanding Original Contribution in Organic Synthesis by a Young Investigator. The award is sponsored by the Pfizer Endowment Fund. Du Bois is the third recipient of the annual award, which recognizes original and insightful work by a young investigator that has had significant impact on the field of synthetic organic chemistry.

WILLIAM J. PERRY, the Michael and Barbara Berberian Professor and a senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, has received a lifetime achievement award from the Air Force Association, a civilian organization promoting public understanding of aerospace power and the role it plays in national security. Perry, who served as U.S. secretary of defense from 1994 to 1997, is a professor of management science and engineering and an expert on U.S. foreign policy, national security and arms control.
