Stanley drives down victory lane

Sebastian Thrun, an associate professor of computer science and director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, was interviewed on campus after the Stanford Racing Team's autonomous robotic car, Stanley, won the DARPA Grand Challenge, earning the team a $2 million prize. The Oct. 8 off-road race pitted 23 autonomous vehicles against each other on a 132-mile desert course that began and ended in Primm, Nev.
