36 teaching assistants receive awards

Thirty-six teaching assistants in disciplines ranging from anthropological sciences to statistics have been recognized with Centennial Teaching Assistant Awards.

The awards honor outstanding teaching assistants in the School of Humanities and Sciences, School of Earth Sciences and School of Engineering. Each recipient was awarded a certificate and $500 prize.

Every year, half the departments in the School of Humanities and Sciences are invited to choose usually one to three of their graduate student teachers (depending on the department's size) to be honored by the designation Centennial Teaching Assistant. In the School of Engineering and School of Earth Sciences, all departments are eligible to nominate teaching assistants each year; between two and seven winners per school are selected.
