New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman declares that 'Globalization 3.0' has made the Earth flat

Giving a short exposition of the "history of the 21st Century," New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman told an audience of over 400 that a perfect storm of events, including 9/11 and the dot-com bust, has created an economic "level playing field" worldwide. He spoke Feb. 11 in an afternoon session at the second annual summit of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, held in the Arrillaga Alumni Center on the Stanford campus.
