| Linde: New data support cosmic inflation
Stanford cosmologist Andrei Linde, a pioneer of inflationary cosmology theory, explains the importance of using experimental data to confirm theories about the origin of the Universe. As an example, Linde cites NASA’s Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) satellite, which has provided cosmologists with the first detailed map of how the Universe looked 13.7 billion years ago -- roughly 380,000 years after the Big Bang.
