Spine Center sponsors
back pain symposium
A continuing medical
education symposium, Diagnosis and Treatment of
Neck and Back Pain: The Integrated Approach, will
be offered Wednesday, Dec. 10, through Saturday, Dec. 13,
at the All Nippon Airways (ANA) Hotel in San Francisco.
The symposium is being held by the American Back Society
and is sponsored by the Orthopaedic Spine Center at
Stanford.
Dr. Eugene Carragee,
associate professor of functional restoration (orthopedic
surgery) and chief of the Orthopaedic Spine Center, is
serving on a panel for the symposium and will give two
talks in addition to moderating a discussion on
alternative medicine.
Other Stanford speakers
include Marc Guillet, director of rehabilitation in the
Department of Athletics; Dr. Edward D. Harris Jr., the
George DeForest Barnett Professor of Medicine; Dr. Barton
Lane, professor of radiology (diagnostic) and of
neurosurgery; Dr. Todd L. Lincoln, assistant professor of
functional restoration (orthopedic surgery); Dr. Robert
Marcus, professor of medicine (endocrinology, gerontology
and metabolism); Dr. Gordon Matheson, associate professor
of functional restoration (sports medicine) and of
medicine; Dr. Alexander Norbash, assistant professor of
radiology (diagnostic); Dr. Glen S. OSullivan,
assistant professor of functional restoration (orthopedic
surgery); and Dr. Lawrence M. Shuer, associate professor
of neurosurgery and chief of staff.
The interdisciplinary
meeting will offer educational opportunities for health
care professionals involved in any aspect of back care.
Continuing education credits are available for
physicians, chiropractors, nurses and athletic trainers.
