Stanford Area Codes will change August
1
Communication Services has announced that on August 1,
the 650 area code will replace the 415 area code in the
Stanford area. Between Aug. 1 and Jan. 31, 1998, callers
dialing either area code and your Stanford telephone
number will reach you, but after Feb. 1, 1998, callers
must dial the 650 area code.
- Department publications: As you print or reprint
department publications, carefully consider
quantity. Remember that on Aug. 1, you will need
to replace your brochures, letterhead, business
cards, etc., so they reflect the new area code.
- Calls to Stanford: Anyone calling you from
outside the 650 area code will need to know your
new number, and that doesn't just mean telephone
calls. Don't forget fax, modem and ISDN calls. Be
sure you inform anyone - suppliers, vendors,
contractors, etc. - who may be calling or faxing
you routinely.
- Calls from Stanford: You may have to dial some
calls differently from your Stanford phone. For
example, after the change, you must dial 9+1+415
before calls to locations in San Francisco, Marin
County, part of Daly City and Brisbane. Remember,
if you have speed call numbers programmed on your
phone, fax machine or modem that call these
areas, you will have to change them to add the
9+1+415.
None of these changes will affect long-distance rates.
Callsfrom the 650 area code into the 415 area code will
cost the sameas before the change.
If you have questions on this change, call the
CommunicationServices Help Line at 5-HELP.
